Douglas County District Attorney Charles Branson has filed charges against a man suspected of playing a part in a February 2008 kidnapping in southern Lawrence.

Troy Dean Pryor, 35, was extradited to Douglas County Jail from Missouri over the weekend. He faces charges of kidnapping and aggravated robbery.

A woman on Feb. 13, 2008, reported to police that a man armed with a knife apprehended her in a parking lot in the 3400 block of Iowa Street.

The man forced her into her car and drove her to a bank, where the woman withdrew money.

The man then drove south of Lawrence, and he eventually fled on foot near Wells Overlook Park, where the woman contacted authorities.

Police announced two days after the robbery that another man, Donald B. Bartsma, 41, of Wichita, was a suspect in the Lawrence robbery.

He was arrested as a suspect in a similar robbery and knife incident in the Kansas City area.

Bartsma has since been convicted of robbery in Missouri, but he has not been brought to Douglas County.

Branson said Monday that Pryor, who has pleaded not guilty, is being charged for his alleged involvement in the Lawrence robbery.

A warrant for a second suspect has not yet been served in the case, Branson said.

District Judge Jack Murphy set Pryor’s bond at $20,000 and has scheduled his next hearing for Monday.
