Tonganoxie 55, Perry-Lecompton 24

Tonganoxie — Freshman Haley Smith came off the bench to lead Tonganoxie High’s girls basketball team with 16 points, and the Chieftains won their home opener.

THS junior guard Andie Jeannin hit three three-pointers and had four assists, and THS senior guard Chrissie Jeannin scored 10 points.

Emma Gantz and Katie Volle led PLHS with six points apiece.

Tonganoxie (3-1) will travel to K.C. Ward on Friday.

Boys

Tonganoxie boys 68, Perry-Lecompton 53

Tonganoxie — The Chieftains went 18-for-26 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to seal a victory.

Sophomore point guard Jeremy Carlisle hit 13 of 16 free throws and finished with 15 points for THS (2-2), which was led by junior forward Keaton Schaffer’s 22 points and seven rebounds.

Kaws senior guard Shane Gimzo hit eight of his game-high 23 shots to finish with 18 points and grabbed 10 boards to record a double-double, as did senior pivot Andy Bowman (13 points, 13 rebounds).

Tonganoxie will travel Friday to K.C. Ward.

Ottawa 47, Shawnee Mission North 43

Ottawa — Adam Hasty scored 18 points to lead Ottawa.

Ottawa (5-0) will play Friday at Spring Hill.
