Prayer vigil to be held for missing 44-year-old Perry resident Shawn Fowler

A prayer vigil will be held this weekend for Shawn Fowler, 44, who went missing Dec. 10 from his Perry home.

The vigil is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Williamstown Assembly of God, 1225 Oak St. in Williamstown.

“Friends of Shawn are encouraged to attend to lend their prayer and emotional support to his family,” said Rick Burcham, who will lead the prayer service at the church.

Fowler has been missing since 2 p.m. Dec. 10, and there are fears that he fell over a steep bank and into the Delaware River near his home. Officials said he has a medical condition that could cause him to become disoriented or confused.

Repeated efforts to search the river and canvass the neighborhood have produced no signs of Fowler’s disappearance, said Ramon Gonzalez, Perry police chief.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Kansas Highway Patrol have assisted Perry police in the search.

“We always keep hope,” Gonzalez said. “We don’t give up.”

Fowler is 6 feet tall, weighs 180 pounds, and has long brown hair and a beard, police said. Any information about Fowler should be reported to Jefferson County emergency officials at (785) 863-2351.
