Dominick Matthew Reiske, Lawrence, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 52 and Venture Crew 2691. Reiske will be recognized at a court of honor ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at St. John the Evangelist Church, 1234 Ky.

Reiske joined Scouting as a Tiger in Pack 3057 in 1998. He progressed through all the ranks of Cub Scouting and earned the Arrow of Light in January 2003. He then joined Troop 52. Reiske earned 34 merit badges while advancing to Eagle: camping, citizenship in the community, citizenship in the nation, citizenship in the world, communications, environmental science, family life, first aid, lifesaving, personal fitness, personal management, swimming, American heritage, archery, athletics, backpacking, basketry, cooking, crime prevention, fingerprinting, fish and wildlife management, fishing, forestry, Indian lore, leatherwork, mammal study, music, painting, pottery, rifle shooting, snow sports, sports, wilderness survival and wood carving.

He is a brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow and warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He has received the following awards: 50 Miler Award, 100 Nights Camping, BSA Snorkeling, Heritage Trail, Paul Bunyan Woodsman, World Conservation, Firem’n Chit, Totin Chip, Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Award and BSA Lifeguard. He has also earned the Catholic Boy Scout religious emblem Ad Altari Dei.

Reiske has attended summer camp at Camp Theodore Naish Scout Reservation, H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation, and Camp Alexander. He has attended Philmont Scout Ranch and Double H High Adventure in New Mexico. He will attend Sea Base in Florida this summer. Reiske has staffed Cub Scout day camp for five summers and completed Junior Leader training. His troop leadership positions include scribe, den chief, assistant patrol leader, patrol leader, senior patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, OA troop representative, and junior assistant Scoutmaster.

For his Eagle project, Reiske installed and landscaped around four benches placed along a one-mile walking path at the First United Methodist Church Community Center.

Reiske is a junior at Lawrence High School. He is member of the LHS football, wrestling and baseball teams, A Cappella Singers, Latin Club, Ultimate Frisbee Club, and plays rugby on the Under 19 team of the Kansas Jayhawk Rugby Football Club. His parents are Mark and Sue Reiske.
