The significant Saturday snowfall in the Lawrence area appears to be finished.

About 2.5 inches fell since about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service in Topeka.

The storm brought in colder temperatures and moved from the northern Plains, dropping as much as 6 inches in areas of western Missouri, said Josh Boustead, a NWS meteorologist in Topeka.

No snow is in the forecast for today, and city temperatures could reach the 60s by Wednesday, he said.

The snow caused some inconveniences for Lawrence drivers Saturday morning, but apparently no major accidents.

As of 3:30 p.m., a Douglas County emergency dispatcher said Lawrence police handled 16 noninjury accidents and one where someone suffered a minor injury.

Outside the city, 15 Douglas County accidents were reported, but none of them involved injuries, the dispatcher said. The snow did cause problems on the Kansas Turnpike between Emporia and Kansas City.

Between 20 to 30 wrecks were reported, a dispatcher said, but the agency was still sorting out numbers late in the afternoon.

None of the wrecks appeared to include major injuries, he said.
