From the Lawrence Daily World for Feb. 28, 1909: “The legislature voted today to adjourn on March 6. … The new Lawrence Building and Loan Assn. here has been quite busy and a number of splendid loans have been negotiated the past month. … Old Aunt Jane, known all over Kansas as one of the most persistent violators of the prohibitory law, was arrested again here yesterday for selling ‘booze.’ She was taken down to court again.”
