Pickup of yard waste to resume on Monday

February 25, 2009

The city will soon resume collections of yard waste.

On Monday, city crews will begin collecting grass clippings, leaves, and small brushy debris. Crews will collect the material once-per-week, on Mondays.

The material is taken to the city’s Wood Recycling and Compost Facility, where it is turned into compost.

As in past years, the city will not accept yard waste material that is in plastic bags. Only cans, carts or compostable paper bags can be used for yard waste.

One of the good things about living by the river is that you can throw all your garbage in there and also get free water, and possibly electric if you have one of those wooden wheels.

Major waste of money and resources , I dump mine in a smal area of the back yard , it decomposes quickly , doesn't smell . Eliminating it could save half the miles on city trash trucks and half the labor. That's some big bucks !

Why is the city in the compost business when it cannot fitx the potholes?

Compost is basically biosolids....

oh wait

the City has been feeding you all biosolids for years

never mind

I was told that the city is now going to charge us for the compost they make. Is this true? Are we going to pay for the service of pick up and then be charged for the compost too???
