? Kayli Farley scored 10 points, and the Veritas Christian girls basketball team beat Flint Hills, 40-37, on the Eagles’ senior day.

Veritas’ five seniors — Melissa Hardee, Taelyr Shelton, Kirsten Bennett, Becky Finger and Hannah Walton — helped the Eagles improve to 7-14 on the season.

“This has been a challenging year, and this group of seniors has laid a good foundation for the future,” Veritas coach Kevin Shelton said. “It’s no secret. These seniors wanted to go out with a win, and they took it upon themselves. This is something where you want to go out on top.”

Veritas will play next in the Kansas Christian Athletic Association’s Class 2A state tournament on Thursday against a team to be determined at Olathe Christian. Shelton said he would learn the opponent and the Eagles’ seed in the tournament on Monday.
