Eagle boys victorious

? John Hicks scored 21 points, and the Veritas Christian boys basketball team defeated Flint Hills, 51-38, on Saturday.

It was senior night for the Eagles, who will graduate four players this year: Hicks, Jeremiah Johnson, Taylor Zook and Neal Daniels.

“The guys played with good energy, as you’d expect on senior night,” Veritas coach Doug Bennett said. “Defensively we played well, forced a lot of turnovers and finished strong at free-throw line (13-of-19 in fourth quarter).

Veritas (7-14) will be a No. 6 seed in the Kansas Christian Athletic Association Class 2A state tournament. The Eagles will face Olathe Christian at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday in Olathe.
