KU softball to play in Palm Springs

For the third straight weekend, Kansas University’s softball team will be on the road, this time in the four-day Cathedral City Classic in Palm Springs, Calif.

The Jayhawks (4-5) will open today against North Carolina (8-2) and Oregon State (5-4). On Friday and Saturday, they’ll meet BYU (6-5) and UC Santa Barbara (5-4), respectively. Then KU will wrap up Sunday against California (7-1) and Cal Poly (2-2).

Senior third baseman Val Chapple leads the Jayhawks with a .346 batting average. Senior shortstop Stevie Crisosto leads the Big 12 Conference with 10 walks. Senior right-hander Val George has a 3-3 record and a 1.73 earned run average.
