Eudora Boy Scout Troop 64, sponsored by the Eudora Lions Club, conducted an Eagle Court of Honor Oct. 30 at Camp Bromelsick to honor two new Eagle Scouts, David Lewis and Jim Adams. Both Scouts graduated from Lawrence High School in May, with Lewis completing his Eagle Board of Review Nov. 27, 2007, and Adams completing his review Sept. 22.

Both young men were members of Eudora Cub Scout Pack 3064 before joining Troop 64 in May 2001. Some of their Scouting activities include attending Theodore Naish Scout Reservation, camping adventures in temperatures below zero and above 100 degrees, hiking the Rimrock Trail, visiting the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio, and participating in many other district and troop campouts and hikes.

They have been members of Troop 64 for seven years and have held several leadership positions and participated in many community service projects and flag ceremonies.

Lewis and Adams also earned the Twelve Month Camper Award. In June 2004, Lewis participated in an 80-mile canoe trip out of Atikokan, Ontario, Canada, with Lawrence Troop 59.

Outside Scouting, Lewis was involved in youth baseball, soccer and many school activities including wrestling and the Lawrence High School Anime Film Club. His Eagle service project consisted of planning and leading 16 adults and youth in planting trees and shrubs in two Eudora city parks.

In school, Adams was active in the Environmental Club and forensics program with a long-term goal of becoming a pastry chef. His Eagle project was to plan and supervise 10 adults and youth in installing a security fence and gate to keep children and others away from the air conditioning equipment at the Hesper Friends Church.

Troop 52, sponsored by First United Methodist Church, will have an all-you-can-eat chili feed from 11:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday in Brady Hall at the church, 946 Vt. The proceeds will assist with the troop’s costs for summer camp at Camp Alexander in Lake George, Colo. Tickets will be available at the door.
