D.A. asks for more investigation of Brown

Los Angeles — Prosecutors said Tuesday they want more evidence from police before determining whether to press charges against Chris Brown, who’s accused in a domestic dispute that reportedly involves pop superstar Rihanna.

Police presented a case regarding Brown on Tuesday, but did not release any of its details, Los Angeles County District Attorney spokeswoman Jane Robison said.

Brown was arrested Sunday night after surrendering to police, who sought the 19-year-old singer when a woman identified him as he attacker during a fight the night before. Numerous media outlets, citing sources and police officials who were not named, have identified the woman as 20-year-old Rihanna, Brown’s longtime girlfriend.

Though an initial police news release indicated that they were investigating a battery on a woman who was injured, Brown was booked only on suspicion of making a criminal threat, a felony. Police have said that prosecutors would determine what charges, if any, were warranted.

Billy Joel, Elton John to play Wrigley Field

Chicago — The Piano Man and the Rocket Man are pairing up for a concert this summer at Chicago’s Wrigley Field.

Promoters announced Tuesday that Billy Joel and Elton John will play together at the home of the Chicago Cubs on July 21.

The singer-songwriters will perform duets playing twin pianos and trading vocals. Each will play a set with his own band, followed by both bands joining for a finale.

Tickets, which go on sale Saturday, range from $55 to $175 before fees and service charges.

Joel and John started their hugely successful “Face 2 Face” concert tours in 1994. They played together in the Chicago area in 2001 and 2003.

‘Sopranos’ actor settles assault suit

New York — Vincent Pastore of “The Sopranos” fame settled a $5.5 million lawsuit accusing him of assaulting his ex-fiancee.

The settlement was announced Tuesday just before Pastore, 62, was to testify for the second day in Manhattan’s state Supreme Court in the assault trial filed by Lisa Regina, 47.

Lawyers for both sides said the terms of the settlement were confidential.

Pastore, who played gregarious, genial mob killer Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on the hit HBO series, said little as he left court.

“I think I just want to say, ‘Thank God it’s over,’ and leave,” the actor said. “How can anybody be happy about something like this?”

Regina, a writer, actress and acting coach, said she was “just glad there’s closure and I can move forward.”

In her 2006 lawsuit, Regina said that Pastore attacked her on April 2, 2005, after they began a car trip to New Jersey, punching her, grabbing her hair and forcing her head down on the car’s gear shift.

Pastore pleaded guilty later that year to attempted assault and was sentenced to 70 hours of community service and anger management therapy.
