A rollover accident at 12th and Kentucky streets late Tuesday afternoon stopped up rush hour traffic.

Emergency crews were called to the accident just before 4:30.

24-year-old Justin Goff was driving his Ford Mustang northbound on Kentucky, when he said another driver cut him off trying to turn West onto 12th street, causing his car to flip.

“It happened so fast,” said Goff, a senior at Kansas University.

He said medical personnel were surprised his injuries weren’t more severe and that he's very thankful things didn’t turn out worse.

“Once I realized I was OK, I thought about those movies where the car blows up, so I knew I had to get out,” he said.

Both drivers were able to walk away from the accident. Goff sustained minor cuts and bruises.

The intersection was closed for about an hour.

"I thought about those movies where the car blows up, so I knew I had to get out." Well, cars don't usually blow up in real life like you see them blow up in the movies. The movies have a little help with special effects. Glad that he's doing fine physically though.

On my way home tonight on Tennessee, I dodged a driver headed north-bound. I honked my horn at him, and he flipped me off. Awesome.

I take it Mr. Goff was wearing his seatbelt? Excellent. Glad all (that really matters) is well.

tg13 - just as an aside. It didn't used to happen that cars rolled over so much. It used to be higher speed (than what would be expected at 12/KY) or some other event, but I have noticed in the last few years there seems to be a lot of rollovers. Hopefully, it is just not enough facts being released for the stories, and not some flaw in the automobiles.

Maybe he hit a gigantic pothole while swerving and that's what flipped his car.
