Lawrence police investigate report of gunshots at 23rd and Louisiana; find no evidence it happened

Lawrence police spent the better part of an hour Thursday afternoon combing the area of 23rd and Louisiana for information related to a report of gunshots at 2:15 p.m. in the Louisiana Purchase shopping center.

In the end, no evidence was found and it seems that the activity was a false alarm.

Police spokesman Sgt. Bill Cory said two people in a Ford Mustang thought they heard the gunshots coming from a newer model white Cadillac.

The two men followed the car west on 23rd Street and onto northbound Iowa, where they lost track of the car.

Police went door-to-door in the shopping center and determined that there didn’t seem to be any danger.
