Sebelius still seen as serious candidate for Obama cabinet position
Topeka ? Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius continues to face speculation about whether she is a candidate for President Barack Obama’s Cabinet.
A leader of the national health care advocacy group Families USA said Wednesday that Sebelius should be on a short list of Cabinet candidates.
And a Democratic pollster in Washington says she’s so highly regarded that she’d be a serious candidate for any Cabinet post.
The job of HHS secretary is open because of Tom Daschle’s withdrawal.
Statements from the governor’s office haven’t dampened speculation. Spokeswoman Beth Martino has said Sebelius is focused on Kansas’ financial problems — but hasn’t said that she’s definitely not interested.
In December, Sebelius took herself out of consideration for the Cabinet, citing those budget problems.
