Sebelius still seen as serious candidate for Obama cabinet position

Gov. Kathleen Sebelius is again facing speculation about whether she's a candidate for Barack Obama's cabinet.

— Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius continues to face speculation about whether she is a candidate for President Barack Obama’s Cabinet.

A leader of the national health care advocacy group Families USA said Wednesday that Sebelius should be on a short list of Cabinet candidates.

And a Democratic pollster in Washington says she’s so highly regarded that she’d be a serious candidate for any Cabinet post.

The job of HHS secretary is open because of Tom Daschle’s withdrawal.

Statements from the governor’s office haven’t dampened speculation. Spokeswoman Beth Martino has said Sebelius is focused on Kansas’ financial problems — but hasn’t said that she’s definitely not interested.

In December, Sebelius took herself out of consideration for the Cabinet, citing those budget problems.

I'm hoping even Obama isn't this stupid.

I think it would be pretty cool if she got the cabinet post. It may be an old fashioned sentiment, but I always like to see Kansans do well on the national scene, regardless of party.Let's be honest here though, no one one believes she took herself out of consideration for a cabinet post last December. She got the call from DC that she was not going to get selected. If she gets the nod for HHS, we all know that the finanacial problems of Kansas will suddenly not seem as important and we'll hear that X amount of poor Kansans are without medical care and she can do something about that in Washington. Something along the lines of why it was important for her to govern by Blackberry for a couple months while she was stumping for Obama across the country.I'm just saying....
