Buckeyes trip Purdue in OT

Ohio State 80, No. 12 Purdue 72, OT

Columbus, Ohio — Evan Turner scored six of his 26 points in overtime, leading Ohio State past Purdue to end the Boilermakers’ six-game winning streak. William Buford had 22 points, and fellow freshman B.J. Mullens added 17 as the Buckeyes (16-5, 6-4 Big Ten) won their third straight while shooting 60 percent from the field. Purdue (17-5, 6-3) had not permitted an opponent to shoot better than 43 percent.

No. 3 North Carolina 108, Maryland 91

Chapel Hill, N.C. — Wayne Ellington scored a season-high 34 points, and North Carolina hit a season-best 16 three-pointers in its sixth straight victory. Tyler Hansbrough had 24 points, and Ty Lawson added 21 for the Tar Heels (20-2, 6-2). The Atlantic Coast Conference’s hottest team used some early long-distance touch to clinch their fifth 20-win season under Hall of Fame coach Roy Williams.

No. 8 Marquette 76, DePaul 61

Rosemont, Ill. — Jerel McNeal scored 26 points, and Marquette beat DePaul for its 12th straight victory, matching its longest winning streak in seven years.

The Golden Eagles (20-2, 9-0), the Big East’s only undefeated team, had trouble putting away DePaul, but did enough to send the Blue Demons (8-15, 0-10) to their 10th straight loss and keep them winless in the conference.
