From the Lawrence Daily World for Feb. 3, 1909: “Prof. Charles Edward Hubach, dean of the voice department at the university, will leave in May with a group of 12 top students who will study with him and other teachers in Florence, Italy, this summer. … More than 500 already have signed up to attend the huge YMCA convention here and it appears more than 750 will attend in the final rundown. … Local residents may as well get out their heavy clothing for six more weeks of bad weather.
