From the Lawrence Daily World for Dec. 28, 1909: “James H. Patten, a former student and faculty member at the university, is now secretary of the U.S. Immigration Bureau and is a worldwide leader in the fight against white slavery. He was the first editor of the University Weekly and left here four years ago after being on the university faculty.”
