Lawrence Workforce center using Twitter to spread word about jobs

The Lawrence Workforce Center has started a Twitter feed to post information about area job openings on the Internet.

Matt King, a local veterans employment representative at the center, said staffers will also post interesting job-related articles, job fairs and workshops.

Especially during the recession, the center, 2450 Iowa, has worked with job seekers to market themselves in social media as an added way to network. King said that’s has become especially important for people who have not had to look for a job for several years.

Twitter is a micro-blogging Web site that allows users to post messages or tweets in 140 characters or less.
