The Kaw Valley MoveOn Council will be staging its support for health care reform Tuesday, Dec. 8, at Ninth and Massachusetts streets.

About 20 members will give a street performance, “Cost of Delay Vigil,” from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

It will be a game show format with an announcer and three Vanna White lookalikes who will display three possible answers for each question. The public is encouraged to play and will be up against “Billionaires for Wealthcare.”

Jo Andersen, coordinator, said the goal is to support health care reform and educate the public about the issues.

“A lot of people don’t understand what this is all about,” she said. “They think it’s about death panels and abortion and stuff that really has nothing to do with health care reform.”

For example, she said, one question will be “What does the number 2,547 represent?” It’s the average number of people per day who file bankruptcy because of health care costs.

Prizes will be given to the winners.

The Kaw Valley Council is part of MoveOn.org, a grassroots national organization.

“Its main focus is to get away from silly stuff and move on to what’s important,”Andersen said. “We are very much actively encouraging Congress and the President to pass the important issues and to stop wasting time on things that don’t really matter.”

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...

Oh...and moveon.org is a grassroots organization? Could have sworn it's financed by one of the wealthiest people in America. Will Mr. Soros be one of the opposing contestants?

Which country did Mr. Soros try to backrupt could be a question at the rally.

"For example, she said, one question will be “What does the number 2,547 represent?” It’s the average number of people per day who file bankruptcy because of health care costs."

This is a flat-out lie being promulgated by the so-called 'reformists.' The study (there was actually more than one) that appeared in JAMA was a crock of s***. The authors, founders of Physicians for a National Health Plan (self-identified as a single-issue organization dedicated to single-payer, taxpayer-funded healthcare) are more than a little biased, and their 'research' was a joke.

In the so-called 'study,' you could have yur bankruptcy labeled 'medical' without incurring a single dollar in healthcare expenses. If you missed more than two weeks of work because of illness or injury, or if you just said healthcare bills were what caused your bankruptcy, that was sufficient.

And in order to earn the label through healthcare bills, in the original study you only had to have $1,000 in medical bills ($5,000 in the follow-up), regardless of total indebtedness. You could have a $500,000 mortgage, $100,000 in student loans, a $30,000 car loan, $50,000 in credit card debt, and $5,000 in overdue utility bills, but a single emergency room visit during that period means, according to the fruitcake Dr. Himmelstein, the bankruptcy was 'medically caused.'

Using the exact same methodology and data set, I'm sure you could find that 100% of all bankruptcies are 'caused' by grocery bills.

This is the kind of lies and scare tactics being thrown around by the 'reformists'. And they accuse those who see the man behind the curtain as the ones being dishonest?

Wow. The JW has something on a liberal event? Must have slipped through the editor cracks.

ok NotaJ...you've spent about 10,000 or more words making this argument. Fine, let's all concede this round just for the sake of not hearing about it again. Its a small piece of the debate, a sidebar. Read this.

MoveOn needs to "stage" this support, because the public isn't.

Go Sunny. I am sure there will be plenty of "mis"-education of the public at this rally. Staging is the key word in the lead paragraph. Soros is definitely behind this as he is attempting to do to us what he did to GB. Interestingly they have socialized healthcare, too.
