Police make arrest in connection with KU burglary

Occurred at the Shenk Sports Complex on KU's west campus

Lawrence police and Kansas University police apprehended one suspect Monday evening in connection with an automobile burglary on the KU campus.

According to KU police, a report came in at 7:50 p.m. of a theft in progress at the KU Park & Ride lot near the intersection of Clinton Parkway and Atchison Avenue. A backpack and a purse were stolen from a car parked in the lot.

Lawrence police and KU police worked together to set up a perimeter in the area of the crime. About one hour after the original call, a 43-year-old Lawrence man was apprehended in the area of Clinton Parkway and Kasold Drive.

The man was arrested on charges of burglary of a vehicle, theft, and obstruction of legal procedure.
