Heavy rains close Lawrence intersections

Heavy rains moved through the Lawrence area Wednesday morning. Cars were going through large pools of water at the intersection of 13th and Connecticut.
Heavy rains that rolled through the Lawrence area after 8 a.m. Wednesday led to the placement of barricades at three Lawrence intersections. Emergency dispatch said crews were called to 23rd and Ousdahl, 19th and Naismith and 11th and Haskell streets to place barricades along the road to keep motorists from driving through high water. Dispatch reported no other major problems due to the rains as of 9:15 a.m.
6News Meteorologist Ashley Meenen said this band of heavy rain is expected the leave the area by late morning. More rain is expected later this evening and into Thursday.
