Bicycle equality
To the editor:
I too would like to see a system of trails for bicycles as Mr. Pye wrote about in his letter on Aug. 18.
I believe bicycling should be on an equal footing with cars. Let us start with turn signals, brake and headlights, safety equipment, tags and mandatory insurance.
Maybe paying personal property taxes on their bicycles would help pay for the trails too, since trails and bicycle lanes up to now are “freebies” for those not contributing to roadway construction and upkeep with tags and taxes.
