From the Lawrence Daily World for Aug. 25, 1909: “The street car construction force announced today it would lay a temporary track to the fair grounds at once. The goal is to have the street cars operating by fair time and the extension to the fair grounds will be made to order for the big occasion. Many are looking forward to the ride. … The prices for apples will be high this year due to poor crops in many areas, including our own.”
