Baker picks up U.S. News ranking

Baker University has earned a spot among the top liberal arts colleges in the country, according to the most recent U.S. News & World Report rankings.

Baker joined Bethel College as the only Kansas colleges in the liberal arts school rankings. Both schools earned a spot in the magazine’s “third tier” of rankings of schools ranked between 127th through 187th in the nation.

The magazine defines a liberal arts college as an institution emphasizing undergraduate education and awarding at least half its degrees in the arts and sciences.

Schools are judged in areas like peer assessments, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, alumni giving and graduate rate performance.
