Suspect in rape of KU student in her dorm takes stand in his own defense

A Pratt man charged with raping a Kansas University student inside a women’s dorm, took the stand Wednesday in his own defense.

The 21-year-old defendant denies raping the woman in March 2008 inside a room at GSP Hall.

Prosecutors claim the man entered the room and sexually assaulted the woman while she was unconscious.

He testified that any interaction between the two was consensual, and when he left her dorm room, she was fully clothed.

Witnesses testified earlier in the trial that they found the woman, naked from the neck down, as the man was fleeing her room.

Closing arguments in the case are scheduled to take place at 9 a.m. Thursday in Douglas County District Court.
