— Rep. Jerry Moran hopes to get a boost for his Senate campaign in Kansas from a top South Dakota Republican.

South Dakota Sen. John Thune (thoon) plans to participate in fundraising events for Moran on Sept. 2 at the Mission Hills Country Club in Johnson County.

Thune gained notice in 2004 by unseating the Senate's Democratic majority leader, Tom Daschle. Thune is now chairman of the Senate's Republican Policy Committee.

Moran represents the 1st Congressional District of Kansas.

Also seeking the Republican Senate nomination next year is Rep. Todd Tiahrt, who represents the 4th Congressional District.

Very interesting how this primary is bringing out everyone in the republican party. Maybe he can pull out a big name moderate democrat to bring to Lawrence.

I wonder how long Moran will avoid mentioning Tiahrt's association with the batty "Christian" C-Street group with the penchant for world domination and extra-marital affairs?

I don't know how close Tiahrt and Moran are if the gloves come off or not, they are in the same party, after all. But Moran has to know the far right (and left) is always more likely to show up for a primary.
