Beth Reiber, Lawrence, author of Frommer’s Japan and Frommer’s Tokyo, was appointed a Yokoso! Japan Ambassador during a July 9 ceremony in Tokyo at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

The honorary appointment was awarded in recognition of Reiber’s achievements in introducing Japan to foreign tourists.

As the author of both books for more than 20 years, she is the longest-reigning author of a Japan guide book and also blogs about Japan for the Japan National Tourism Organization’s U.S. Web site at japantravelinfo.com.

Of the 49 individuals who have been appointed ambassadors over the last two years, Reiber is the only recipient living in the United States.
