August 19, 2009

A free seminar has been cooked up so people with diabetes can learn more about managing their condition and cooking healthy.

“What’s Cookin’ with Diabetes” is a free, two-hour seminar prepared by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and K-State Research and Extension.

The seminar will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, in Building 21 at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds, 2120 Harper St.

The evening will include a chance to taste healthy recipes, tips for healthy eating and information on managing diabetes.

Presenters include Susan Krumm, family and consumer science agent with K-State Research and Extension — Douglas County, and Lisa Barnett, a certified diabetes educator.

There will be door prizes and giveaways.

The deadline to pre-register, which is required, is Sept. 15. For more information or to register, click here or contact Krumm at 843-7058.
