August 19, 2009

U.S. Rep. Dennis Moore, D-Kan., has received an award from for his efforts in disaster preparedness and recovery.

The coalition of first responders, businesses, insurers and organizations dedicated to preparedness and recovery announced the 50 award recipients this week in honor of the fourth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina on Aug. 29.

Moore’s House district includes eastern Lawrence. The organization recognized him for his “tireless efforts in preparing for and protecting families and communities from natural catastrophe.”

“Through the efforts of this year’s recipients, we are confident that America will move closer to the kind of comprehensive and integrated program that is needed to truly protect the six in 10 American families that live in areas that are vulnerable to massive hurricanes and earthquakes,” said James Lee Witt, a co-chairman of the organization and former director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Dear Congressman Moore, Please be a part of a town hall meeting during your August recess. Many of us would like our representative to talk with and to us. I'm guessing near election time in 2010 you'll be asking for all the airtime you can get- but at that point I don't know how many will want to listen to you.

I've voted for you since I was 18 in many elections. But your lack of communication and voting record will be up for scrutiny in my ballot box next year.

Sincerely, A 3rd district voter.

I stopped voting for Moore 2 years ago when he signed off on the whole illegal wiretap issue. You know, the original 'why is the government secretly copying my emails?' scandal not the current, fake 'how did Obama get my email address?' hoo-hah.

If he's going to vote like a Republican, might as well elect a Republican.
