From the Lawrence Daily World for Aug. 19, 1909: “A carload and a half of big storage batteries arrived here today to be use in the big expansion of the Bowersock power plant. A large work force will be involved in getting the plant expansion done. … The arrival of the street cars means another change for Lawrence. The big arc lights which had always hung in the middle of the street must be moved to one side to be out of the way of the street car wires.”
