Rain delays work at intersection

Repaving work at an intersection at the northern edge of town won’t start until Wednesday morning.

That’s the new schedule for a pavement-sealing project at the intersection of U.S. Highway 24/40 and U.S. 24/59, commonly known as Tee Pee Junction.

Work had been expected to begin Monday morning, but rains washed out those plans, the Kansas Department of Transportation said.

If work can start Wednesday morning, the department said, crews should be finished with the intersection on Aug. 25.

The intersection will be expected to remain open throughout the work, although drivers should expect lane closures and minor delays, KDOT said.
