Lawrence Raiders legion baseball players Matthew Abel and Bryan Kindle were selected as Co-MVP’s for the 2009 season on Thursday.

The Raiders finished the year 18-25 under first-year coach Wilson Kilmer and placed third in the Legion AAA State tournament in Pittsburg.

Lawrence went 2-2 at state, with victories against Hays and Tonganoxie, and losses against Manhattan and Pittsburg.

In other awards, Travis Sanders won the Al Ice Memorial Scholarship, while Mitch Whitson won the Louie Heinrich Memorial Scholarship.
