Lawrence police are seeking the suspect in an armed robbery that occurred at Miracle Video, 1910 Haskell Avenue, about 9:57 p.m. Friday.

The suspect, described as a thin white male, entered the store carrying a silver baseball bat and demanded money from the two clerks working. The clerks gave the suspect an undetermined amount of money, after which the suspect exited the store from the north end and headed east.

The suspect was wearing a dark-colored hat, dark shirt and baggy shorts or pants. He was also wearing a white towel or bandanna over his face.

On Saturday evening, Sgt. Richard Nickell of the Lawrence Police said that the “suspect is still at large.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the police department’s TIPS Hotline at 843-TIPS (8477).

Just what is expected? Seriously? Perhaps some civil obedience! It's the store's fault??? They somehow invited this criminal behavior by the design of their counter! How about people teach their kids NOT to ROB a video store!!!

+1. Bulletproof glass isn't the answer.

I happen to be in one of the lofts at 10th and New Hampshire where the arrest took place, tried to get most of it on video:

I'm assuming this is related to the story but not exactly sure at this time.

Just left the Replay and it looked like things were going okay. That car (in the above video) was driving very slowly down Mass with 3 cops behind him. The finally fully stopped at 10th & NH. I waited a while thinking they would leave but they never did, so I had a friend walk me to my car. I don't know if it was related or not, either.

Nathan, were any of the guys in your video white??? I didn't see that any of them fit the description of the suspect.

@alm77 - The driver appeared to be caucasian wearing a black hat, red t-shirt, and tan shorts. The other two appeared to be african american.

Marion, now the expert on retail security.

He's quite the gun expert, ya know.

LJW, how is that "squelch" function programming going?

Very professional work from the police on that video. I hope the Department sees it and uses it as a training video. Nice job LJPD.

The only problem with an arrest at that location is your uniform smells like curry when you get back in your car . . .

Robbed with a baseball bat? People are getting to complacent. Some type of resistance might help avert this perp from trying it again.

Even though the video is actually of the other story (pointing a gun) and not the robbery, it is a good video. Did anyone else notice some of the really smart drivers on 8th St. A couple of them pull up to the stop sign, then immediately put it in reverse to turn around and get out of the line of fire !!! There actually are sober and intelligent people out there. Good job if you were one of the people who backed up and got out of the way.

Seriously, Marion? Should every retail establishment in the country hire security and surround their checkout areas with bars and bulletproof glass?

If they don't, according to your comment, they should just expect to get robbed.

True, beo, true. We probably shouldn't shop at all anymore. If we go out in public we should expect to get robbed, and if we shop on the Internet someone will steal our identities.

Sorry about just noticing the posts. The video referenced here is from a different crime, as mommaeffortx2 says. The video referenced is in relation to a car with drivers that were pointing guns, but not shooting (apparently), at people around town. The people from the armed robbery at Miracle have yet to be caught, according to police.
