Green bracelets in support of Don “Red Dog” Gardner’s fight with prostate cancer can be picked up at Dog Days workouts or several retailers in Lawrence.
Dog Days workouts are conducted at 6 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Kansas University’s Robinson Center. Saturday runs begin at 7:30 a.m. in the parking lot at the corner of Eighth and Vermont streets.
Suggested donations for the bracelets are $2, with proceeds split between the Dog Days fund and Addi’s Cure, a campaign to raise funding for lung cancer research. Addi’s Cure is in honor of KU graduate student Christi Johnson’s husband, Bo, who was diagnosed with lung cancer as a healthy, active, nonsmoking 34-year-old.
Bracelets are available at Kizer-Cummings Jewelers, 833 Mass.; Wink Eyewear, 806 Mass.; KLWN/KLZR, 3125 W. Sixth St., J & S Coffee Co. Inc., 4821 W. Sixth St.; and all Central National Bank locations.
