Kansas University Public Safety officers are looking for two or three suspects after an armed robbery Sunday afternoon in a parking lot near McCollum Hall.

KU spokeswoman Jill Jess said in a statement that a male student reported a suspect approached him and demanded money. A gun was involved, Jess said. The suspect took cash from the victim, but no injuries were reported.

The suspect left in an older-model brownish-maroon sedan, which was possibly a 1980s model Chevrolet. One or two other people were in the car, Jess said.

KU has made counselors available to assist the victim.

Anyone with information in the case can call the public safety office at 785-864-5900 or KU Crime Stoppers, which handles anonymous reports, at 785-864-8888.

In the statement, KU public safety officials urged students to report any suspicious activity to police, and they also said students should take precautions, like walking in groups when possible.

Well maybe a description of the suspect would help?!?!? And since when does brown and maroon look similar?

OldEnuf2BYurDad 6 years ago

Oxidized maroon?

I hope someone is examining the idea that a pattern is emerging. Stranger on stranger crimes are on the increase in Lawrence. Muggings, assaults and rapes by strangers walking down the street... this doesn't even happen in NYC any longer, so why is it happening HERE?

arumerzwartehoop likes to make a lot out of nothing. Actually, it's a lot of nothing out of nothing.

Apparently beobachter and the Journal World do not appreciate sarcasm.

"so is there a discription of the suspects??"

2 or 3 suspects in maybe a eighties chevrolet of uncertain color.

That should be enough for 200 additional posts......

Marion (Marion Lynn) says… Beabachter/Observer/ObservAr is more concerned about his/her/its definition of “racism” than public safety.

Has anyone ever been robbed in narrow daylight?

Not only do we not know what race but we don't know what sex, or even what species. Nothing but "suspect accompanied by peoples." Political correct lazy non-offensive journalistic g0bbly g00k run amok (Watch your mouth! The words "g--k" are not allowed here) making this story completely useless.

I've got 10:1 odds I am called a sexist, racist, homo-sapien-phobic hate filled right winger for making that observation. I might even have the post removed for not "watching my mouth." Want a little hint kiddies? Nobody cares what the posters on here think, least of all the morally superior anonymous few who quickly call anonymous others names.

I'm with Multi on this one....

To say 'misery loves company' probably doesn't quite cover it -- but add to that 10 million cop shows on TV telling us how to do it isn't exactly 'must see' TV on a nightly basis.

Anger and frustration may be expressed in a plethora of ways...but violence has become the norm in our confused, gun-toting culture. For those of you who think it won't at some point take over Lawrence and all its 'innocence' -- think again.

It's more fun to play MadLibs with the suspect discriptions:

a ___ suspect, _ years of age, feet tall with _ hair and ___ eyes fled the scene.

With all this racism talk, everyone is overlooking the fact that LJW is printing Sexist articles. Come on, Really. Do you think Daylight likes being called a Broad?

Why would anyone rob a broke-arsed college student? They'd probably get more if they robbed a panhandler.

The Lawrence Journal World doesn't print suspect information, that includes suspect descriptions too.

Doesn't anyone care if they are hurting Daylight's feelings with all this name calling?
