Bonds, Fuller pace KU at Drake Relays

Lauren Bonds ran a career best in the 1,500 meters and Corey Fuller placed second in the men’s triple jump to pace the Kansas University track and field team on Saturday in the final day of the Drake Relays.

Bonds, a junior from Hutchinson, qualified for regionals in the 1,500 meters for the second week in a row, lowering her personal-best time to 4:27.16 to finish in third place.

Fuller recorded a triple jump of 15.20 meters to finish as the runner-up. The Baltimore freshman has now finished second at three consecutive meets after winning the triple jump at the Jim Click Shootout on April 5 in Tucson, Ariz.

In the women’s hammer throw, Zlata Tarasova recorded a mark of 54.60 meters to place sixth.
