Riley Record: Steve Riley of Lawrence was the overall winner of the Earth Day Challenge Half Marathon Sunday in Gambier, Ohio. A week earlier, Riley broke the marathon record for Kansans in the ages 55-59 bracket with a time of 3:02:47 in the Eisenhower Marathon in Abilene.


Hilltop Hustle: The Hilltop Hustle 5K and 1K family run will be at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Hilltop Child Development Center on the Kansas University campus. For information, call Ann Cudd or Mike Cormack at 864-4940.


Roberts Golf Champ: Conrad Roberts shot a 7-over-par 79 and won the weekly Jayhawk Golf Club tournament Sunday at soggy Alvamar. Van Reichert and Chad Roesler were runners-up, each with an 82. In net scoring, Tom Taylor and Tony Compton were low, each with a 77. Ed Scholtes was third with a 79.


Youth Football Camp: Lawrence High and Free State football coaches Dirk Wedd and Bob Lisher will conduct a camp for youths entering grades 3-9 on June 22-25 at Free State. Brochures are available at elementary schools. For information call Wedd at 832-5050 or Lisher at 832-6050.


KU Conference: Kansas Athletics Inc. will conduct the Midwest Sports Performance Conference on May 8-9 at the Anderson Center. Emphasis will be on preparing an athlete to compete in any sport at any level. A total of 20 sports science professionals will be presenters.
