15 dead animals removed from road

? Authorities are seeking any information about who may have shot about 15 animals and laid them across a county road in central Kansas.

The carcasses of several rabbits, a possum, a turkey, a duck and possibly a raccoon were found last week on a road about a mile south of Ellinwood.

Two Kansas Highway Patrol troopers and a Barton County sheriff’s detective spent part of a night removing the dead animals.

Trooper Steve Billinger says it was a disturbing thing to see.

Wildlife officials say it’s possible state law was violated because a permit is required for hunting turkey. There is also a law against wanton waste.
