Company donates medicine to program

? An Overland Park company is donating $250,000 worth of unused prescription drugs to medical clinics across Kansas.

Prescription Solutions, a unit of UnitedHealth Group, said Wednesday that the drugs will go to 36 clinics in 30 Kansas cities. The first $70,000 of drugs went to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, with the remainder going out over the rest of the year.

The donation is the first under a state law that went into effect Jan. 2 allowing adult care homes, mail service pharmacies and medical care facilities to donate unused prescription medicine to safety net clinics and federally qualified health centers.
