Omaha, Neb. ? Junior Robby Price’s sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th inning plated Casey Lytle from third base and lifted the No. 24 Kansas University baseball team to a 7-6 victory over Creighton on Tuesday at Rosenblatt Stadium.

It was the Jayhawks’ sixth straight victory.

Kansas improved to 24-12 overall (7-5 Big 12), while Creighton fell to 17-17.

KU led, 5-0, but had to withstand a furious Bluejays rally in the final four innings.

Lytle reached on an error to lead off the 10th inning and then advanced to second on Preston Land’s sacrifice bunt. The Kansas sophomore moved to third on a Jason Brunansky base hit and scored on Price’s game-winning sacrifice fly.

Price finished the game 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Relief pitcher Brett Bochy pitched a scoreless 10th inning to earn his third victory of the year out of the bullpen.

Early on, Kansas was cruising. Brunansky homered in the top of the second inning behind base hits by Lytle and Tony Thompson to give the Jayhawks a 3-0 lead. KU tacked on single runs in the third and fourth innings on a Jimmy Waters RBI single and an RBI by Brian Heere.

However, Creighton fought back in the seventh, taking advantage of two Jayhawk errors to come within 5-4.

The Creighton rally wasted a solid start by KU junior Brett Bollman. Bollman (4-0), who allowed two unearned runs on five hits over 61/3 innings to go with no walks and four strikeouts. He recorded KU’s 13th quality start of the season.

Thompson extended his hitting streak to 13 games. The Kansas third baseman has hit safely in 30 of his 34 starts this season.

Kansas and Creighton combined for 13 runs, scoring all of them with two outs in the inning. The Jayhawks scored 15 two-out runs in their April 10-12 series against Oklahoma State.

Kansas will travel to Lubbock, Texas, for a three-game series with Texas Tech beginning Friday evening at Dan Law Field. First pitch Friday is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
