Eudora City Administrator Cheryl Beatty resigned Wednesday night at a special Eudora City Council meeting.

After a 30-minute executive session with the city’s attorney, the council unanimously voted to release her from her current contract effective immediately.

Beatty said she was resigning because newly elected mayor Scott Hopson had enacted policies that were not conducive to a good working environment. Neither she nor Hopson would give specifics regarding any such policies.

“We reached an amicable agreement, and that’s really all I want to say about it,” Hopson said.

The terms of her release state that in the event of such a resignation, she is to be paid a full salary and benefits for the next six months.

The council has not formally discussed the search for her replacement.

Beatty had been employed with the city since May 2005.

this is sad for eudora to loose a proffesionel city aministrater. she did a lot of stuff for eudora.

why dont he like the fire chief. my friend says that the fire department is very good and takes good care of peoplo who get hurt or sick with there new EMTs. eudora dont have much fires but mark says they are real good at that to. nobody i know says a bad thing about the fire chief. whats up with him and the mayer.

She likely left because Hopson was going to fire her, or make her life/job miserable. Hopson won't replace her with another city administrator because he thinks he (a lineman who was fired by the city for sexual harrassment) can do a better job (i.e. he wants more power).

The fire chief and Parks and Rec director will be likley replaced with Hopson's cronies. That is, once he coerces a few on the city counsel into giving him what he wants.

The City of Eudora has benefited enormously with the leadership of Cheryl Beatty. For the first time in Eudora history growth has happened with planning and forethought! We have a new improved downtown that is thriving, long overdue infrastructure improvements and the list goes on. Economic development was always on the top of Cheryl's mind and she worked tirelessly to bring us into the 21st Century. But the biggest improvement that is in the works is improving the water. Cheryl is leaving with her work unfinished, but I for one appreciate all she has done for our community and am concerned about the future of our city.

Trouble? Have you seen all the trouble this city has been involved with the past several years? She had no clue what she was doing. Yeah, it's going to be a bumpy ride to clean up all the lawsuits and money that has been spent.

Just wait the next to go will be Hodges and the fire cheif. I think Hopson and Wittmen will be causing a lot of trouble.

It has been apparent that if Hopson was voted in, she would be gone. They can't stand each other, and so it begins..... Hold on Eudora, its going to be a bumpy ride!

She was quite proactive and tried to better Eudora. I thought she did good for what she had.

Might have something to do with Mayor Pyle being defeated. He hired her to begin with. The new mayor appoints city officals subject to approval by the councel.

Good, can't wait to see her go

Why on earth would she be paid a salary when she resigns? If I quit my job I sure don't get anything. I can understand a clause that if she is involuntarily terminated there should be a severance package, but no way she should be paid if she chooses to leave.

I think she was tired of One_Eyed Wilbur's sexual advances after a drunken spree at the Fornictating Monkey or what ever that dive bar's name is that he is always yammering about.
