Davidson’s Curry undecided

Charlotte, N.C. — Davidson guard Stephen Curry, the nation’s leading scorer, is still undecided on whether to leave school for the NBA. His father, former NBA sharpshooter Dell Curry, said Thursday that his son was in “pause mode.” He indicated a decision could come next week. The deadline to declare for the draft is April 26.

Curry averaged 28.6 points for the Wildcats. The 6-foot-3 Curry is projected as a first-round pick. If Curry returns for his senior season, he’d have an outside shot at eclipsing Pete Maravich’s NCAA Division I career scoring record.

UCLA’s Holiday declares

Los Angeles — UCLA guard Jrue Holiday plans to enter the NBA Draft, but he won’t hire an agent and is leaving open the option of returning for his sophomore season. Holiday averaged 8.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.6 steals starting all 35 games for the Bruins this season. He averaged 27.1 minutes and was on the Pac-10 all-freshman team.

Calhoun plans to return

Hartford, Conn. — Connecticut coach Jim Calhoun said Thursday he plans to return for a 24th season at the school. Calhoun’s Huskies finished the season 31-5, losing in the national semifinals to Michigan State.

Calhoun, who was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2005, has a career record of 805-342, good enough for sixth place on the NCAA Division I career wins list. He is 557-205 at Connecticut.

Miami forward declares

Coral Gables, Fla. — Miami junior forward Dwayne Collins has declared for the NBA Draft but could return to the Hurricanes next season because he has not hired an agent. The 6-foot-8 Collins was Miami’s second-leading scorer last season, averaging 10.6 points per game.
