Mother who hid dead baby to be cleared

? Church pianist Bridget Lee lived in fear of Alabama’s death row for more than two years.

The Carrollton mother of two committed adultery, became pregnant and panicked — then she hid her stillborn baby in a plastic container for several days in the back of her sport utility vehicle.

She was accused of suffocating her baby boy and charged. But now Lee is on the verge of being cleared by state medical examiners who determined a former Alabama medical examiner was wrong when she concluded the death was a homicide. The child actually died of pneumonia at birth and never drew a breath, a new autopsy found.

A judge scheduled a hearing today, and District Attorney Chris McCool said he would join Lee’s lawyers in asking the court to dismiss the case if testimony backs up written reports depicting the initial autopsy as badly botched.
