An attorney for a student accused of bringing a gun into Lawrence High School has requested a jury trial.

The 18-year-old senior, who is accused of carrying a concealed gun, was in Douglas County District Court on Wednesday. He is charged with criminal possession of a firearm and criminal use of weapons.

School officials said in January the student admitted to a staff member that he had brought a gun into the building several days earlier.

The judge set a motions hearing for May 7.
