Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for April 7, 1909: “Although the electric line has been a major topic of late, the building of levees across the old riverbed in North Lawrence remains a major point for discussion and action and several resolutions are being drawn up. … The recent election produced more votes than any election in our history. The total for the city was 3,681 with the First Ward leading the way with 994 votes followed by the Second Ward with 944.”
