Lubbock, Texas Liz Kocon hit two home runs, and Dougie McCaulley and Kolby Fesmire each had three RBIs as Kansas University hammered Texas Tech, 10-0, in Big 12 softball Saturday.
Sarah Vertelka (5-4) earned the run-rule-shortened six-inning win for the Jayhawks after allowing just two hits —both in the first inning. She also hit a batter, giving Tech its only other base-runner on the day.
Seven Jayhawks collected 11 hits as KU improved to 12-20 overall, 2-3 in the Big 12. Tech fell to 12-29 and 1-7.
Kocon hit a solo homer in the first, and another shot in the fifth.
KU scored four runs in the fourth off five hits.
Kansas tacked on five additional runs in the top of the fifth to earn the run-rule.
