Man taken to LMH with non-life-threatening injuries after single-car accident

A 21-year-old Lawrence man was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries early Friday morning after a one-vehicle accident near 23rd and Louisiana streets.

The driver, who was using his cell phone at the time of the accident, was alone in the car. He sustained minor facial cuts.

The man was heading north on Louisiana Street when he failed to negotiate a turn and overcorrected his car. The vehicle hit a tree on the west side of Louisiana Street near The Malls Shopping Center. Emergency crews responded at 2:40 a.m.

Lawrence police are investigating whether alcohol was a factor in the accident.
