Lawrence police located a 7-year-old boy, Molique Wealthall, who was missing from Sunset Hill School, 901 Schwarz Rd.

The child was located at a friend's house, the school district said.

Molique's mother, Kimberly Wealthall, went to the school to pick him up after what was supposed to be a 30-minute detention. He never showed up for his detention and did not get on a bus to an after-school program he attends while his mother is in class at Kansas University. Kimberly Wealthall said Molique went to the home of a friend and was found by a next-door neighbor.

"My neighbor called and said that he had found him and I started screaming and crying because I was happy because every worst thought goes through your mind when you can't find your kid, especially for 2 and a half hours," she said.

The boy was supposed to take a bus to a day care center after school.

Police initially responded at 4:11 p.m.

For the record, he can't both take a daycare van after school AND go to a detention for his mom to pick him up.

Hey the second kid in Lawrence to return home safe and sound in a couple of days. Those are the stories I love to hear. Glad he was okay!
