City of Lawrence offers truckloads of woodchips for sale

Area residents will have the chance to buy woodchips in bulk this week from the City of Lawrence.

The Parks and Recreation Department’s annual woodchip sales will run from Thursday through Saturday.

The sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The sale will take place at 1420 E. 11th St., which is just east of 11th and Haskell.

Crews will sell woodchips by the pickup load for $10. Patrons are asked to bring a tarp to prevent the woodchips from littering the roadway.

The woodchips are produced from trees and branches that city crews remove or pick up as yard waste throughout the year. Woodchips can be used like mulch to help trap moisture and reduce runoff in gardens.
